What Students like in Books

 

 

The first step in getting students to read is to provide them with books that they find interesting. 

 

  1. Interesting topic to me.
  2. Easily readable, print not too small.
  3. A book I’ve heard of before.
  4. A main character my own age and sex.
  5. A “now setting – hot the olden days.
  6. Some pictures.
  7. Paperback (preferred by 60%.
  8. Action beginning on page one, not after chapters of “dull stuff.

 

Parents, keep these things in mind when buying books for your children.  It might make the difference in choosing a book that your youngsters will read and enjoy.
